So, I sent an S.O.S. call to Chris last night, and if the weather’s good later today, he’s coming over to check out our bees. He sort of insinuated that we may not get ANY honey from either hive this season…you know because I’ve told you— it takes a season for the bees to build comb in the hive and get all settled in. Then, the time they spent this first season getting things in order will be spent in the following years gathering pollen and nectar and making honey.
I think Chris is right about that when it comes to the slower hive…they seem perfectly content to dawdle their way along. But he’s not seen those Amazon swarmers that hang out on their porch…every day they fly out of that hive with a single crazy purpose…to take over the world. They’re my kind of women, and when I tell them how Chris is underestimating them, they’ll be pissed.
