I can’t stop watching Ken Burns’ National Park series. I just love it. I mean, it’s a lot of TV, so sometimes I just sort of watch as I’m doing other stuff. Deb hears the music and hums along. I can’t identify the music until she hums it, and then I’m like, Hey! I know [...]

We’re only about three hours from home, but I want to upload this picture for Suzanne before she leaves for Maine. Though a nice cup of espresso after dinner by a campfire is still delicious, it’s not quite as much fun to drink without Suzanne.

Gosh, so many things to fill you in on…but I have to watch the length of these posts or I’ll get what-for from Suzanne.
First: We both woke up yesterday with a clear decision…we’re going to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula on Sunday. Yes, it’ll be chilly there. Well, fine. Why bemoan it. Let’s just deal with the [...]

We still don’t know which way to point the car on Sunday. We have next week off but we have zero plans for it. We’ve arranged for someone to stay at the house with the pets, so we know we’re leaving town. So, let’s just tease out some of the possibilities right here. Remember, we’re [...]

Updates:
We’re still unsure about where to go the first week in September. We’re thinking of just waiting to feel the weather that Sunday (August 30) and head in the opposite direction.
We’re thinking either Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, or the Outer Banks, or a little vagabond road trip through Nashville, Memphis, and Asheville. Nashville to Asheville. Did [...]

We’ve still got a week set aside for our vacation, but we’re having some trouble deciding where to go or what to do. You know we always take our relaxing vacation on Sanibel in March. But we usually have some sort of wild adventure involving bear or moose or other such creatures in the summer. [...]

There goes the cat walking on the countertop again. He’s developed a habit of it now.
Not Alice is going to the ocean. We leave early tomorrow morning, and if all goes well, we’ll be in our bathing suits and in the sun by 1:00 pm. Our room doesn’t technically become available until 3:00 pm, so [...]
Thinking about Sanibel

It’s time to really start thinking about Sanibel. As many of you know, we’ve spent a week on Sanibel Island, Florida this same week for about 19 or 20 years. We stay in the same room (101) in the same place (the West Wind Inn); we sit in the same chairs and rent the same [...]
